Christmas all year long!

Christmas all year long!

That sounds great, doesn’t it! Continuous festivities, presents, egg nog, etc., but what about a continual mindset of giving? Parents tell their children around this time of year that it’s better to give than receive, and it truly is. I know that is where I feel the most joy. But why does it stop after Christmas? Tomorrow I’ll go back to work and continue with my daily life, probably leaving the mindset of giving with the memory of today. But why? For the past few years Christmas has been a hard time for me because it always tends to become just a busy season. I find myself not enjoying the time and wanting to get back to normality. As I was thinking about this, and getting frustrated that this was the case for me, the act of giving came to mind and reminded me that it should never be a once a year occurrence. Christmas has gotten so commercialized that it’s so easy to forget what we should really be focusing on. By focusing on a continual mindset of giving, we have the opportunity to keep Christmas going all year long. That’s something I know I need to consciously strive for this year.

“Let me remind you that it is only by working with an energy which is almost superhuman and which looks to uninterested spectators like insanity that we can accomplish anything worth the achievement. Work is the keystone of a perfect life. Work and trust in God.”   – Woodrow Wilson
